Jason Andrew McVay was born February 14, 1971 the son of Robert and Janice (Stewart) McVay.
Jason graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1990 and then attended Northwest Missouri State University, earning a degree in Agricultural Science. He was an active member of Sigma Tau fraternity. Following college, he returned to Pleasantville and in 1996 Jason was united in marriage to Julie Anderson. To this union two children, Taylor and Abigail were born. For the last 20 years Jason has been a salesman for Darling International.
Jason was a very active member of the Pleasant Lodge No. 128 A.F. & A.M. and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Ambassadors unit. Jason enjoyed working the land at the McVay family farm and for years he raised and showed champion Hereford cattle. He also restored antique tractors. Jason was also a history buff and loved classic cars. His greatest joy in life were his children, Taylor and Abigail.
Jason passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at the age of 47 years with his children by his side and holding their hands.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cara and his father, Robert.
Those left to cherish Jason’s memory include his children, Taylor of Polk City and Abigail of Carlisle; mother, Jannice (Richard) Dickey of Mesa, Arizona and a grandson due in October, Easton Andrew McVay and many other family members and friends.



A Funeral service for Jason McVay, age 47 of Pleasantville, will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Mason Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. A Masonic Service will be held on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
