Janice Blackman Agan Stanton was born in Knoxville, Iowa on September 24, 1924 to W.C. and Ila (Reynolds) Blackman. She passed away on June 3, 2019 at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 94 years.
She grew up in the Coalport area until her family moved to Wyoming and California where she attended school.
Janice was united in marriage to Don W. Agan in 1942. To this union three daughters were born: Jeanetta Sue, Debbie and Nancy. Janice was later married to Rex Stanton in 1976 until his death in 1988. She was primarily a homemaker with various jobs through the years.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Stanton; her parents, W.C. and Ila Blackman; brothers: Robert Blackman, Chester Blackman and George Blackman; sister, Maude Phipps and son-in-law, Craig Stanton.
Janice loved spending time with family, going out to eat with Lois Anderson, road trips, Iowa Hawkeyes, bragging about her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and her beloved Snickers and Bella.
Those left to honor Janice’s memory include her daughters: Jeanetta (James) Boughn of Topeka, Kansas and Debbie Rowley and Nancy Stanton of Knoxville; grandchildren: Rod (Sandra) Stanton, Kevin Rowley and Kim (Larry) Moneysmith all of Knoxville; Jennifer (Dan) Clarke of Monroe, Christine Boughn and Julene (Jared) Soppe of Topeka, Kansas; great-grandchildren: Chelsea (Jeb) Rach of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Alex (Christina) Stanton of Iowa City, Kelsey Rowley of Bussey, Caleb Moneysmith and Caitlyn Moneysmith of Knoxville, Mackenzie Clarke (Dannon) of Reasoner, Delaney Clarke and Lachlan Clarke of Monroe, Bodie Hischke, Caroline, Abagail and Malorie Soppe of Topeka, Kansas; great-great grandchild, Eleanor Stanton of Iowa City and a host of other family members and friends.




A funeral service for Janice Stanton, age 94 of Knoxville, will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. Saturday and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Coalport Cemetery.
