Jane Ellen Buffo was born December 9, 1926 in Princeton, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Cousins) Carter.
She attended Princeton Country School and graduated from Clinton High School in 1944. Following high school, Jane worked at flower shops in Clinton and Omaha. She met her future husband, Joe Buffo, in Omaha. They were united in marriage on April 30, 1955 in Omaha. The couple was married 57 years until Joe’s death in August of 2012. In 1960 Jane and Joe moved to Knoxville where they raised their four children.
Jane was a devout member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Her pastimes included playing the accordion and piano, gardening, dancing and playing bridge. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, her tireless work ethic, being a loyal friend and a great wife, mother and grandmother. Jane’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
Jane passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at her home, following a brief illness, at the age of 88 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; and her siblings: Robert, Lawrence and Georgia.
Jane leaves to honor her memory her children: Janet Findlater of Marengo, Dr. Janine Buffo (Gilbert Koula) of Appleton, WI, Joanne Buffo of West Branch, Dr. Jeffrey Buffo (Diane) of Cedar Rapids; 8 grandchildren: Ian Findlater, Jared Findlater, Mallory Koula, Taylor Koula, Anthony Brothersen, Jessica Brothersen, Jacob Buffo and Corinne Buffo and many other family members and friends.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to HCI Care Services (Hospice of Central Iowa) or to St. Anthony Catholic Church.

The family invites relatives and friends to St. Anthony’s Church Hall for lunch following the committal service.

Visitation will begin after 12:00 p.m. Sunday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
