Jamie Lynn Alertsen

Jamie Lynn Alertsen was born May 10, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of James and Emma (Mueller) Sankey.
She was raised in Des Moines until her family moved to the Nutterville area of Pleasantville, Iowa. She attended Pleasantville schools and became a Medication Manager and started her career working in nursing homes. On January 5, 2002 Jamie was united in marriage to Earl Alertsen. The couple made Pleasantville their home. Jamie was currently employed by Independence Village in Waukee and Pella, Iowa. She had a passion for her job and loved taking care of the residents.
In her spare time, Jamie enjoyed shopping – some may have called her a shopaholic. She had a soft spot in her heart for her pets. Jamie’s greatest source of pride and joy was her children and grandchildren.
Jamie passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 as a result of an automobile accident in Des Moines at the age of 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Shepard, Jr.; father, James Sankey and grandparents, Vonda and Merl Mueller.
Those left to cherish Jamie’s memory include her husband, Earl; children: Markos (Kennedy) Sankey; Nicole Alertsen; Natosha (Shane) Sankey; Madison (Derek Tillotson) Alertsen and Natalie Alertsen; grandchildren: Josiah and Kora Baxter; mother, Emma (David) Shepard; siblings: Billy (Jen Wilson) Sankey and Shannon (Derrick) Six; step-mother, Carmella Formaro and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasantville EMS or to the Marion County Humane Society
