James Michael Fine was born September 5, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Kenneth Eugene and Erma Jo (Slavik) Fine.
He was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Hoover High School. Following graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Jim returned to Des Moines where he lived the rest of his life. Jim worked various jobs throughout his life, including Hammer Medical. He and his wife, Rogena Armstrong had many wonderful years together.
In his spare time, Jim liked to travel especially to country music shows in Branson, Missouri. He was an animal lover and always had a cat. He also enjoyed spending time with his niece, nephew and grandnephew. Jim was well known for his cross-penny ministry as he gave them to everyone he met.
Jim passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Des Moines V.A. Medical Center at the age of 71 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Rogena Armstrong.
Those left to honor Jim’s memory include his mother-in-law, Dorothy Armstrong of Pleasantville; brother-in-law, Vern (Martha Lucey) Armstrong; sister-in-law, Denise (Tom G., Jr.) Edwards; nephew, Tommy Edwards; niece, Amy (Trevor) Fisher; grandnephew, Waylon and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pleasantville American Legion Post 108.
