Jack Leroy Kingrey was born March 12, 1933 in Marion County, Iowa the son of Charles Aaron and Ruth A (Sanders) Kingrey.
Jack’s mother passed away when he was 9 days old. His grandmother, Josephine Kingrey and his aunt, Mary Kingrey Cowman helped raise him along with his sister, Marcella. On September 26, 1951 Jack was united in marriage to Mary Blanche Gullion. To this union two children, Mary Virginia “Ginny” and Jack Eugene were born. The couple raised their family in Knoxville and Jack worked for the Bellamy Telephone Company. 1991, Jack retired after 30 years of service from Contel Phone Company.
Jack always had a smile (with a toothpick) and a warm friendly greeting for everyone.
Jack passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville at the age of 91 years.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by three sisters: Marcella Kain, Charlene Hulgan, and Mina Roberts, and a brother, Leo Kingrey; son Jack E. and great-grandson, Justin Little.
Those left to mourn Jack’s passing include his wife of 72 years, Blanche; daughter, Ginny; four grandchildren: Justin Kingrey, Austin Kingrey, Ashley Kingrey and Mandi Edwards; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Clinna Raye Culbertson, Sharon Weldon and Alvin Kingrey and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum.
