Henry Arthur Bensink was born January 5, 1928 on his family’s farm in rural Pella, Iowa the son of Nelis and Esther (Van Zee) Bensink.
Henry started farming with his family at the age of 16. On October 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Brummel in Pella. The couple farmed in the Monroe area before moving to Pleasantville in 1965. Henry was a charter member of Celebrate Church in Knoxville and always remained active in the church. Henry loved farming and being a steward of the land for 80 consecutive years, having never retired.
Henry passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Comfort House in Pella at the age of 96 years.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 2008; sister, Ruth; a grandchild and his daughter-in-law, Millie Bensink.
Those left to honor Henry’s memory include his sons: Mike of Pleasantville, Dan (Christine) of Clinton and Jack (Cindi) of Pleasantville; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Marge and Darlene and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Celebrate Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
