Helen Shirley (Hartsock) Veselak died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Comfort House, Pella, Iowa, of cancer.
Helen lived in Knoxville, Iowa. Helen was born January 20, 1926 to Ralph and Hazel (Zimmerman) Hartsock at Kirklin, Indiana. She moved to Knoxville, Iowa from Los Angeles, California in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Knoxville. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Saint Anthony Bingo, and Finance Council of her church. She volunteered for many church activities and enjoyed playing bridge with three of her closest friends, Judy Howard, Fran Wadle and Sylvia Cole on Mondays evenings. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa.
She married Raymond Clarence Veselak, August 7, 1948, at Antigo, Wisconsin. One son survives her, Jan Michael Veselak and wife Christina, and one granddaughter, Dmitria T. Nicole Sampson Veselak, all from Denver, Colorado.
Her husband, Raymond, two sisters and three brothers, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sisters: Margaret (Wayne) Keltner of Strafford, Missouri; and Phyllis Roberts of Cabool, Missouri; brother: Donald Hartsock, Germany; Sisters-in-law: Phyllis Veselak, Antigo, Wisconsin; and Helen Arnold, Dayton, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm at Saint Anthony Catholic Church on Monday, March 16, 2015. The Funeral Mass will follow starting at 6 pm. Frs. Jake Greiner and Charles Fladung, officiating. There will be a private burial.
Memorials may be made to the Saint Anthony Church.
