H. Halene King was born December 29, 1930 on her family farm in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of William Clark and Bessie L. King.

She was raised in Attica, Iowa and graduated from Attica High School. Halene worked at the Marion County Courthouse and Bane Chevrolet for a few years. She then spent the rest of her career as an office administrator for physicians. Halene first worked for Dr. Yme Sloterdyk, then Dr. Alan Patterson and she retired from the Knoxville V.A. Hospital December 29, 1995.

In earlier years, Halene enjoyed bowling and playing women’s league volleyball. She was an active member of the Attica United Methodist Church, Attica U.M.W., Daughters of the American Revolution and the V.F.W. Auxiliary for most of her life. Halene’s other interests included reading, country music, and playing cards with family and friends. She was also an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.

Halene passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at West Ridge Specialty Care, in Knoxville, at the age 93 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Howard King.

Those left to cherish Halene’s memory include her brother, Harold of Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews.
