Gwendolyn Kay Jones was born October 15, 1956 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Richard and Lily (Jones) Sterling.
Gwen lived her entire life in Knoxville. On February 24, 1984 she was united in marriage to Randy Jones. Gwen was a CNA and CMA and had worked for Griffin’s, West Ridge, C.O.C., the Mahaska County Home and the Knoxville Rest Home.
In her spare time, Gwen enjoyed needlepoint, making baby quilts and camping. She and Randy liked attending the Rathbun Music Shows on Saturday evenings. She loved children and babysat for many years and helped with vacation bible school at her church.
Gwen passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 60 years.
Those left to cherish Gwen’s memory include her husband, Randy; sons: Joe (Darcy) Komarek of Knoxville and Jeramy (Cassandra) Komarek of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; parents, Dick and Lily Sterling of Knoxville; brother, Ross (Sue) Sterling of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Vicki (Rick) Tonda of Humble, Texas and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Gwen Jones, age 60 of Knoxville, will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.
