Gregory Phillip Vrban was born June 18, 1933 at the family farm in Marion County, Iowa the son of Frank and Frances (Vidas) Vrban.
Greg was raised in the Melcher-Dallas area and graduated high school from there in 1951. He worked for Des Moines Steel prior to serving in the United States Army, primarily in Germany, from 1954 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge, Greg returned to Iowa and began his career at John Deere in Ankeny. He was an experimental mechanic for John Deere for over 35 years prior to retirement.
In his spare time, Greg enjoyed antique transportation, especially cars, motorcycles and tractors. He loved a good auction and looking for unique antiques.
Greg passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Care Center, in Indianola, at the age of 87 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Greg Anthony Vrban and 7 siblings.
Those left to cherish Greg’s memory include his children: Todd Vrban, Janée Anderson, Tanja Anderson, Christi Vrban, Marci (Henry) Allen and Sean Vrban; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Eve Hunget and many other family members and friends.
