Gladys Naomi King was born September 5, 1920 on a farm east of Columbia, Iowa the daughter of John T. King and Ada Jane (Kincaid) King.
Gladys attended the Pleasant Ridge School and in 1947 she moved into the town of Columbia with her parents. On December 16, 1951 she was baptized at the Columbia United Methodist Church. Gladys was very active in the church; she helped with Sunday School, was the President of the United Methodist Women for 12 years and she was the church custodian for over 30 years. She retired from the custodial position in 1986. Gladys lived a simple life and enjoyed the beauty of the changing seasons.
Gladys passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center, at the age of 99 years.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her siblings: Eunice, Paul King, Lowell King, Edith Johnson, Elsie Davis, Edna Partridge, Thomas King and Ivan King.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
