George Edward Stoltz, 80, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, Iowa from lung cancer.
George was born March 18, 1936 in Dolliver, Iowa to William Stoltz and Violet (Workman) Stoltz. He graduated from Des Moines Technical School in 1955 and worked at WHO Radio briefly. The majority of his career was spent at Iowa Beauty Supply, where he worked for over 20 years. Later in life, George held positions at both Goodwill of Des Moines and NAPA Auto Parts. He loved gardening, planting trees, hunting, fishing, reading, and had a well-known love of Pepsi.
George was preceded in death by his parents, both his first wife (Linda) and second wife (Prudy), as well as his half-sister, Mildred (Logsdon) Richards, and half-siblings Wilmeta (Stoltz) Massmann and Charles Stoltz, Sr., both of Minnesota.
George is survived by his daughter and grandchild with Prudy (Brown) Stoltz; Stephanie and Selina Stoltz. George is also survived by his son, daughter, and 5 grandchildren with Linda (Neely) Stickel; Brian Stickel, spouse Candi Stickel, grandchildren Jessica and Robert Stickel; Cindy Freemyer, spouse Randy Freemyer, and grandchildren Joe, Cody, and Lindsey Freemyer.
George will be buried in Des Moines, Iowa at Chapel Hill Gardens next to his second wife, Prudy. Any contributions or donations may be made in George’s name to the Arbor Day Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Lung Association.
An informal memorial service in George’s honor will be held at Atlantic & Pacific Pub in Knoxville, Iowa on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
