George Douglas Roberts
December 27, 1946 — April 6, 2019
George Douglas Roberts left this life on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the V.A. Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 72 years to be with his Savior and first family.
He was born into the Christian home of U.S. Army Master Sergeant Gilbert G. and Barbara J. (Hatfield) Roberts on December 27, 1946 in Tampa, Florida. He was born again on 1959 and 1984.
Doug married Brenda J. Lee, Harriet Lynelle Hanes and Carol R. Rodgers. Each marriage ended in divorce. His legacy are his sons, Jeff and Daniel Roberts from his 15 years of marriage to Brenda, and four grandchildren.
Doug was drafted in 1966 and served nearly two years in the U.S. Army Engineers with one tour in Vietnam. He was promoted to Specialist 5 and received an honorable discharge. He worked most of 25 years as a C.P.A. and internal auditor.
He was a member of the Knoxville Church of Christ, Arkansas Tech University Alumni, American Diabetes Association and was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Graveside committal services for George Douglas Roberts, age 72 of Knoxville, will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors.
