Geneva May Seddon was born September 24, 1941 in Reynolds, Missouri the daughter of William Pete Watson and Viola May (Mowery) Watson.
Geneva was raised in Missouri and left school following the sixth grade to help raise her 11 siblings and work in the family sawmill business. She moved to Iowa in 1965. While in Iowa, Geneva worked for her family’s business and then at various restaurants and eventually retired from Casey’s. Customers often requested Geneva’s donuts and pizza when she cooked at Casey’s.
In her spare time, Geneva enjoyed paint-by-number, jigsaw puzzles, old television programs and listening to gospel music on her record player. She was also known for cooking, especially soup, oatmeal cake and cornbread dressing. Geneva’s greatest joy in life was her family and the Lord, most notably her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Geneva passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at her home at the age of 77 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Seddon; sons, Michael and Eugene Whitworth; grandson, Kaleb Lafollette; son-in-law, Scott Jans and siblings: Ike Flint, Myrtle Nash and Leonard, Jim, Louis, Eddie and Frances Watson.
Those left to cherish Geneva’s memory include her children: Kayt (Clay) Smith, Julie Griffin, Kathleen Whitworth and Eddie Lafollette; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Maybelle Null, Velma Shaw, Rita Miller and Rosie Richter and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Geneva Seddon, age 77 of Knoxville, will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
