Gary Darrel Mosher
September 2, 1945 — August 29, 2017
Gary Darrel Mosher was born September 2nd 1945 in Pleasantville, Iowa the son of Darrel and Betty (Sterling) Mosher. Gary was raised in Pleasantville. After Darrel’s death Gary was raised from a young age by his other dad Duane (Hoot) Richards. Gary was a member of the class of 1963. Gary may or may not have gotten into occasional trouble as he was growing up….. In 1965 Gary married Juanita (Reeves) Mosher. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary before her passing. Gary worked for R.B. Burch Construction before working for Standard Oil/Amoco Jobber. Gary then started and operated Mosher Oil Company for 30+ years before he retired. Gary then worked at United Express Airlines and Keck Oil before finally retiring.
He was a huge supporter of our Little League program acting as president for several years. In 1978, he played a key part in forming the Pleasantville Booster Club, which he is still a proud member of. Gary was a member of the city council for 10 years and a long time member of Pleasantville FD. Gary loved anything with wheels, all Pleasantville sporting events, the Iowa State Fair, all children (especially AJ & Tyler), and solving the world’s problems with a Busch Light while sitting on his deck with Hampton and McCan and most of all his family. His grandkids could not have found a prouder or more dedicated supporter.
Those left to cherish Gary’s memory include his children: Letitia (Ervin) Kopp of Columbus, Nebraska, Celesta (Bill) Moore of Pleasantville and Nick Mosher of Swan; 6 grandchildren: Pablo, Saul, Sterling, Dakota, Mac, Jonna; 5 great-grandchildren: Lily, Sophia, Addison, Ava and Aidan; siblings: Jocelyn Richards of Pleasantville and Craig Richards of Des Moines any many nieces, nephews and cousins and many more friends.
A service for Gary Mosher will be held on his 72nd birthday; Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his home (100 Watkins Street – Pleasantville) at 10:00 am. Family will be present from 9:00 to 10:00. Lunch will be served after. Please bring a chair if you can. Memorials will be made to Pleasantville Trojan Athletics.
