Floyd Goemaat Jr

Floyd Goemaat, Jr. was born February 8, 1945 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of Floyd and Mildred (Wallace) Goemaat.
Jr. grew up in Attica, Iowa until his family moved to Swan, Iowa. He lived in the Swan area until moving to Knoxville in 1999. In 1978 Jr. was united in marriage to Teresa Dunkin. He worked as a union carpenter and as a roofer and remodeled houses. Jr. then worked for Firestone for 18 years prior to retirement.
Jr. enjoyed fishing, traveling and attending rodeos. As a young man he liked to chase tornados. Jr. loved spending time with his family, it was his greatest joy.
Jr. passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home at the age of 74 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doug.
Those left to honor Jr.’s memory include his wife, Teresa; sons: Floyd Goemaat III of Knoxville, Brian Goemaat of Knoxville and Jason Patience of Arkansas; daughter, Amber Goemaat of Knoxville; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: Judy Wolfe, Jerri Hall and Pat Tille and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Floyd Goemaat, Jr., age 74 of Knoxville, will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Swan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Food Bank of Iowa.
