Edna M. Baumgarten

Edna Magalina Baumgarten was born April 21, 1924 in Warren County, Iowa the daughter Frank and Rosie (Schurman) Dittmer.
She was raised in the Germantown area. On October 1, 1948 Edna was united in marriage to Gahart Noah Baumgarten in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple made their home in the Knoxville area. Edna was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. In her spare time, Edna enjoyed sewing crocheting and reading. She was also an avid Cubs fan.
Edna passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her home at the age of 92 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gahart in 1993.
Those left to cherish Edna’s memory include her children and their families: Gaylan (wife Pasty) Baumgarten of Corydon, IN; Karen Willemsen of Knoxville; Marilyn (husband Ray) Baird of Knoxville, and Tony (wife Kim) Baumgarten of Knoxville; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Loren Dittmer of Des Moines and many other family members and friends.
Memorial services for Edna Magalina Baumgarten, age 92 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 5, at 2pm, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville, were the family will receive friends that evening from 6 – 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or Trinity Lutheran Church.
