Dorothy Ann “Dottie” (Power) Brooks passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 5, 2017 with her family near.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 26, 1939 the daughter of Harry A. and Dorothy D. (Lanigan) Power in the middle of a record breaking blizzard.
In 1961, Dottie met and married the love of her life, Bob Brooks. Together they had three daughters.
Dottie’s greatest joys in life were her family and her cats. Girl Scouts were a big part of her life and she loved being the troop leader for her daughters and even one of her granddaughters. She was a role model for many young ladies and she took her job as Cookie Chairman very seriously. She shared her organizational and scheduling skills to help the PTA raise funds for the girls’ school. There wasn’t a craft idea that she didn’t try! Dottie loved to create things for her home and for others.
After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Iowa and built a home on five acres of his family’s farm.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; daughters: Debbie (Clint) Kowalik, Peggy Dolce and Judy (Marc) Johnson; grandchildren: Corenna (Jake) Allen, Clint Dolce, Michelle Johnson, Calyssa (Tim) Foster, Eric Johnson, Caitriana Dolce and Francesca Kowalik.
