Donna Maree Piagentini was born December 1, 1935 in Ryder, North Dakota the daughter of Carl and Maree (Pettit) Hanchett.
Donna’s family lived in North Dakota for several years and later moved to South Dakota where she graduated from Willow Lake High School. She then attended Nursing School and received her R.N. degree. Donna moved to Knoxville, Iowa to serve her internship at the V.A. Medical Center. During this time, she met Dino Piagentini and the couple were married on November 10, 1957. Donna and Dino made their home in Pershing, eventually moved to their current home in Hamilton. Donna worked for the V.A. for over thirty years. During that time, she started the first Alzheimer’s Daycare at the V.A. She was passionate about helping those with Alzheimer’s and was invited to speak to fellow professionals across the United States. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Donna passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Comfort House, in Pella, at the age of 79 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Don, James, Harold and Nona.
Those left to cherish Donna’s memory include her husband of 57 years Dino, her children: Dennis (Mary) Piagentini of Knoxville, Dean Piagentini of Pershing, Dawn (Brad) Mardis of West Des Moines and Dyan (Jerry) Parker of Bussey; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter and many other family members and friends.


Visitation for Donna Piagentini age 79 of Hamilton will begin after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Pella Comfort House.
