Donald Larry Sutter was born January 20, 1935 in Polk City, Iowa the son of Harold and Dorothy (Nash) Sutter.
Don was raised in the Polk City area on his family’s farm. Following high school, he continued to work on the family farm and also served in the Naval Reserves. On December 13, 1958, Don was united in marriage to MarJean Hill in Huxley, Iowa. The couple lived in Polk City before moving to a farm near Runnells, Iowa and eventually establishing Sutter Farms in Pleasantville in 1963.
Don loved farming and raising livestock. He was a good mechanic and also enjoyed restoring antique Farmall tractors. He was an excellent steward of the land and passed his values and strong work ethic to his children and grandchildren.
Don passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home at the age of 88 years.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, David and siblings: Bruce “Buzz”, Patty Dunn, Ruthie Kelly and Dolores Fortner.
Those left to honor Don’s memory include his son, Kenny (Leanne) Sutter; daughter, Deanna (Rick) Rood; grandchildren: Tyler (Megan), Jacob (Kelsey), Cody (Kayla) and Logan (Jenna); great-grandchildren: Bella, Brystol and Braylon; Oakley, Maverick and Tragen and Hunter and Sawyer and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Pleasantville F.F.A. Alumni Association.
