Donald R. Kendrick was born March 4, 1927 in Marion County, Iowa the son of Delmer Franklin Kendrick and Blanche (Pearson) Kendrick.
As a young man, Don traveled wherever there was work. On February 8, 1948 Don was united in marriage to H. Colene Beaver at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple moved to Davenport where Don worked for John Deere. Three years later Don and Colene would return to Knoxville where they resided the rest of their lives. Don took a job with Farm Service and remained there for 36 years before he retired.
Don was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed learning and sharing the history of Knoxville and Cordova. He also loved to travel, especially to the mountains of Colorado. Above all else, Don cherished spending time with his family.
Don passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Mercy Hospital, in Des Moines, at the age of 87 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Colene; sister, Alberta and a brother, Jim.
Those left to honor Don’s memory include his children: Barbara Hukill (Dave) of Des Moines, Dennis Kendrick (Laura) of Knoxville and Deb Evans (Dave) of Des Moines; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and his sister, Carmen Ohnemus (Darrel) and many other family members and friends.
