Dennis Delvan Carroll Sr.

Dennis Delvan Carroll, Sr. was born September 13, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Ernest and Catherine (Wiley) Carroll.
He was raised in Des Moines and in 1968 he entered the United States Marine Corps. Following his discharge from the Marine Corps, Dennis returned to Iowa. He worked as a truck driver for many years, before becoming a heavy equipment operator for Hallett Materials in Des Moines. He was a proud member of Local 234. On June 28, 1991 he was united in marriage to Lisa Mull and the couple made their home in the Runnells area. To this union a daughter, Alisha was born. Dennis retired in 2009.
In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed music, camping, garden and yard work. He also liked to go mushroom hunting and play solitaire. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, telling stories and enjoying a cold one.
Dennis passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 71 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; niece, Nicki Mull; great nephew, Stephen Fernandez; good friend, Ronny Yarrington and his sister.
Those left to cherish Dennis’ memory include his wife, Lisa; children: Alisha Carroll (Cody), Cheri Minella (Jason), Dennis Jr., Larry, Zach and Candy; 18 grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service for Dennis Carroll, Sr., age 71 of Runnells, will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville. Memorials may be made to the Family.
