Deloris Ann Cox
January 12, 1940 — May 31, 2022
Deloris “De” Ann (Johns) Cox of Scottsdale, Arizona was born on January 12, 1940, in Pleasantville, Iowa to Marie (O’Conner) and Fredrick Johns. She was raised in Pleasantville and a graduate of Pleasantville High School Class of 1957.
On January 11, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gary Lee Cox, and together they were blessed with two children, LeAnn and Leslie. They made their home and raised their family in Pleasantville. Gary passed away in 1985.
Deloris had a long and successful career supporting executives in several roles including Ruan Leasing, the Iowa Legislature, Banks of Iowa and Iowa Association of School Boards.
She enjoyed sewing and created many clothes for her daughters and for herself. Deloris also enjoyed and was accomplished at painting, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, and a variety of other creative activities.
Deloris married her second husband, Warren Seik, in 2003 and they retired to Scottsdale, Arizona. Warren passed away in 2006.
One of her greatest joys was spending time taking care of her three granddaughters, helping raise them and supporting their various activities, as well as creating many adorable knitting projects for each.
Deloris passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters, granddaughters and sister, Donna, on May 31, 2022, at 82 years of age.
Those left to cherish Deloris’s memory are her daughters LeAnn (Cox) Close and Leslie Cox Schreiner of Phoenix Arizona, sister Donna (Johns) Van Haalen of Pleasantville, Iowa; three granddaughters: Brooke Schreiner, Ella Schreiner and Grace Close of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law Roberta (Rees) Johns; sister-in-law Julie Cox; a number of nieces and nephews: Terri (Robertson) Allen, Craig Johns, Linda (Johns) Goode, and Joe Van Haalen, Jason Cox, Nick Cox, Brady Cox; other family; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Cox, second husband Warren Seik, parents Marie and Fredrick Johns, sister Gloria (Johns) Robertson, brother Gail Johns, brother-in-law Bill Robertson, nephew Bruce Robertson, mother-in-law Vivian (Pee Wee) Cox, father-in-law Ivyl (Shorty) Cox, and brother-in-law Dennis Cox.
Services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Mason Funeral Home located at 902 N State Street in Pleasantville, Iowa. There will be a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m., with interment immediately following at the Pleasantville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association (ACT.ALZ.org/donate) or to the Pleasantville Christian Church (P.O. Box 188 Pleasantville, Iowa, 50225).
