Dawn Elise Blackford
July 22, 1960 — August 3, 2019
Dawn Elise Blackford was born July 22, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Charles Darl Crandall and Patricia Ann (Shefchik) Crandall.
She was raised in Pleasantville and graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1979. On January 12, 1980 Dawn was united in marriage to Steven Blackford. The couple farmed in the Pleasantville area until moving to Melcher-Dallas last year. Dawn was a farm wife and had also worked for the Pleasantville Schools and Casey’s.
In her spare time, Dawn enjoyed mowing, flower gardening, and genealogy. She was always bargain hunting and if anybody needed something, Dawn would find it and bring it home to them. Her greatest joys, were spending time with the grandkids and her dog, daisy.
Dawn passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the age of 59 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish Dawn’s memory include her husband, Steve; children: Joshua (Amanda) Blackford and Emily (Adam) Brown; grandchildren: Megan Dority, Mackenzie Blackford, Alexandria Blackford, Emily Dority, Mia Brown, Quinton Brown, Rylie Blackford; siblings: Larry Neff, James Neff, Karen Ray, Kathy Bates, Donald Neff, Linda Lewis and Chris Huston and many other family members and friends.
A funeral service for Dawn Blackford, age 59 of Melcher-Dallas, will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Mason Funeral Home, in Pleasantville, at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Liberty Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society.
