Daniel Leonard Crews was born November 19, 1954 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Charles Leonard and Daisy Pearl (Sailors) Crews.
Dan attended Twin Cedars High School, where he played football and baseball and had the leading role in the school play. He was united in marriage to Marlene Loynachan on September 16, 1972. To this union three daughters, Kelly, Kerry and Katie were born. He worked at VerMeer, in Pella, until 1975 when he took a job at 3M in Knoxville. Dan stayed at 3M the rest of his working career, retiring as a product engineer.
Dan always stayed active and enjoyed bicycling, camping, hunting, fishing, boating and golfing. Wood working in his shop, restoring antiques and detailing his cars and ATV were also pastimes. He liked football and was a true Bears fan. Dan’s greatest joy was his family, and he was immensely proud of his daughters and grandchildren.
Dan passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 67 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Charles, Philip and Donald Crews and a sister, Doris Johnson.
Those left to cherish Dan’s memory include his loving wife, Marlene; daughters, Kelly (Troy) Townsend, Kerry Rhoten and Katie (Vincent) Nola; grandchildren: Taylor and Kaden Townsend, Quinn and Quade Rhoten, Jackson and Avery Coyle and Cameron (Cyrel) Helms; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Worrall; brother, Carl (Judy) Sailors and many other family members and friends.
