Dale Vernon Neifert was born November 13, 1923 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Noel J. Neifert and Mable Augusta (Robuck) Neifert.
Dale attended Attica schools and was raised on his family’s farm 4 miles east of Attica. As a boy, Dale and his father earned a grand champion prize at the Iowa State Fair for their Percheron Stallion. This began Dale’s love of raising and riding horses, which continued throughout his life. On August 24, 1946 Dale was united in marriage to Helen Goemaat in Kilduff, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm 1 mile east of Attica. Dale farmed his entire life, he enjoyed being a good steward of the land. In 1980 Dale and Helen moved to Unionville, Missouri and later to Chula, Missouri and then to Trenton, Missouri. Three years ago, they moved to Knoxville, Iowa.
Dale was a devout Christian; he was a longtime member of the Attica United Methodist Church. He had served as the Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the church men’s quartette. Dale loved to sing and listen to gospel music.
Dale passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at Accura Healthcare, in Knoxville, Iowa, at the age of 95 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy.
Those left to honor Dale’s memory include his loving wife of 73 years, Helen; son, Carl of Winterset; granddaughter, Sara Parks and husband, Forrest of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Kaitlyn and Kirsten Parks; sister, Louise Galvin of Wisconsin and many other family members and friends.
A Farewell Celebration for Dale Neifert, age 95 of Knoxville, will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Attica Unite Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Gullion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gullion Cemetery or to the Attica United Methodist Church.
