Corey Robert Lee was born April 8, 1989 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of J. Robert and Amy (Dennison) Lee.
Corey was raised in Knoxville, Iowa, graduating with the Class of 2007. He attended Graceland University and Iowa State University before joining the United States Marine Corps in 2010. Corey was deployed to Afghanistan twice before his honorable discharge. He then attended Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, earning a degree in Computer Science. In December of 2018 Corey moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he took a job with Collins Aerospace as a software engineer.
In his spare time, Corey was restoring his dream car, a Toyota Supra. He was also a Braves fan, enjoyed reading and his husky, Kyro. Corey’s friends were especially important to him and he would travel to spend time with them. To those that knew him well, Corey was a cool, classic nerd. He especially cherished his family and was known as the “Funcle” to his nieces and nephews who also appreciated his amazing Christmas gifts.
Corey passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident at the age 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Rita Lee; cousin, Amy Jo Lee and aunt, JoAnn Lee.
Those left to cherish Corey’s memory include his parents: Bob and Amy Lee; siblings: Danny (Amy) Lee, Emily (Addison) Spear and Farah Lee (Austin Proefrock); grandparents, Bert and Roberta Dennison; and countless other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Lee family and will be designated at a later date.
