Connie Jo Van Sickle was born May 31, 1948 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Harold Dean Rowley and Alberta Francis (Glover) Rowley.
Connie graduated from Knoxville High School. She worked at the Knoxville V.A. Hospital and tended bar at the American Legion. On November 17, 1979 Connie was united in marriage to Oral Edward Van Sickle. The couple lived in Minnesota from 1983 to 1992. They later moved to Texas and were gate attendants for Lewisville Lake at the Hickory Creek arm. Connie and Oral retired to Sac City, Iowa in 2009. Through the years, Connie was also a bartender and bookkeepers for numerous bars.
In her spare time, Connie enjoyed cooking and was a fabulous baker. She made special care packages for her family that were away during the holidays. She liked meeting and visiting with her bar customers. Family was Connie’s greatest joy, she was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She also loved to spoil her dog, Princess Mitzy.
Connie passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at Loring Hospital, in Sac City, Iowa, at the age of 73 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Rowley.
Those left to cherish Connie’s memory include her husband, Oral; children: Douglas (Rebecca) Houser, Diana (Alan) Six, Michael (Misty) Houser, Sheila Musira and Bryan Van Sickle; grandchildren: Devin Wilmott, Christian Houser, Gabrielle Houser, Christopher (Allison) Brown, Paige (Trent) Davis, Jennifer Six, Heather Six, Timothy Six, Zachery (Samantha) Houser, Kyle Houser, Blake Houser and Lillian Scruggs; two great-grandchildren; brothers: Roger Rowley and Randy Rowley and several nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.





A funeral service for Connie Van Sickle, age 73 of Sac City, Iowa and formerly of Knoxville, will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. John Myers Post #3519 or the American Legion Baty-Tucker Post No. 168.
