Colleen Vivian Hampton

Colleen Vivian Hampton was born July 9, 1946 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Merle and Neva (Ellis) Bechler.
She was raised in Sac City and later in the Iowa City area. She graduated from Clear Creek School in Tiffin, Iowa. Colleen had lived in Texas and Iowa through the years, but she always considered Knoxville her home. She was a homemaker and ran a daycare for many years. Colleen was also a safe home for foster children.
In her spare time, Colleen enjoyed crafts and working on genealogy. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially the grandkids.
Colleen passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 76 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Neva Bechler and siblings: Cordis Bechler and Annie (Virgil) Johnson.
Those left to cherish Colleen’s memory include her children: Chip Godsey, Bryan Godsey, Karalea Godsey, Colleen Augustine and Kylie Augustine; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Caralyn Bechler-Meng; sister-in-law, Barbara Bechler and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Colleen Hampton, age 76 of Knoxville, will be held Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Pine Knolls Golf Club from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, so please come and share a memory.
Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
