Clifford L. Gladson was born December 17, 1934 in Monroe County, Iowa the son of Leo and Esther (Courtney) Gladson.
Cliff attended country school in Monroe County and then entered the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, Cliff would spend the rest of his life working for coal mines as a truck driver. He married Mary Pugh Black and the couple later divorced. On April 9, 1971 Cliff was united in marriage to Darlene Simmons McAdoo. For the last 30 years the couple has made their home in Knoxville. In his spare time, Cliff enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Cliff passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Knoxville Rehab Center at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 23 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Calvin and his siblings: Juanita Van Veen and Leo and Stanley Gladson.
Those left to cherish Cliff’s memory include his wife, Darlene; children: Mike Gladson of Texas, Cindy (Dean) Shore of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, John (Carlene) Gladson of Washington and Tonya (Joe) Merideth of Knoxville; step-children: David McAdoo of Knoxville and Ronald and Kevin McAdoo of Chickasha, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Eric Shore, Heather Shore, Erica Robello, Joe Robello, John Hines, Jacob Goemaat, Emily Merideth, Erika Merideth, Raymond Merideth, Joey Merideth, Crystal McGinity, Justin McAdoo, Dave McAdoo, Karlynda McAdoo, Tylan McAdoo, Calvin McAdoo, Keona McAdoo and Jeremy McAdoo; several great-grandchildren; siblings: Ruth William of Middleburg, Florida; Glen (JoAnn) Gladson of Des Moines, Patricia Fillman of Middleburg, Florida, Don (Joyce) Gladson of Albia, Carol (Ken) Rae of Jacksonville, Florida and Sue (Larry) Douthit of Jacksonville, Florida and many other family members and friends.
