A Celebration of Life for Cleo B. Calhoun, age 97 of Pleasantville, will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Swan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville American Legion Post No. 108.
Cleo B. (Raney) Calhoun was born March 1, 1920 in Centerville, Iowa the daughter of George Henry Raney and Eva Mae (Woods) Raney.
Cleo was married to James Lloyd Calhoun for 59 years, until his death in 1994. Cleo worked for the postal service for 39 years, 26 of which she was the Swan, Iowa Postmaster. She retired in 1982. In her spare time, Cleo loved to travel, quilt, listen to country music, fish and spend time with family and friends.
Cleo passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at her daughter’s home, in Lovilia, Iowa, at the age of 97 years.
In addition to her parents, Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; sons: James and Bobby; brothers: Eddie and Carl Raney; sister, Maxine Bardwell and her great-grandson, Ryan Calhoun.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Maddy of Lovilia; son, Dan (Ruth Ann) Calhoun of Pleasantville; daughter-in-law, Darlene Calhoun; grandchildren: Mike Calhoun, Shelley (David) DeForest, Chris (Craig) Brady, Jolene (Joel) Hackett, Candi (Roger) Roff, Lori (Todd) Dodson, Craig (Cami) Calhoun, Richard Calhoun, Betty Calhoun, Linda (Brian) Darr, 20 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
