Clarence Jackson “Stick” Douglas was born October 14, 1936 in Rockford, Illinois the son of Claude Dean Douglas and Esther Mae (Peterson) Douglas.
He was raised in the Tracy, Iowa area and graduated from Tracy High School. On June 1, 1957 Clarence was united in marriage to Verna Kincaid at his brother’s home in Tracy. The couple had lived in Newton and Pella, but spent most of their married life in Knoxville. Stick worked at the Knoxville V.A. Hospital before taking a job with Iowa Power & Light. He worked for Iowa Power as a tree trimmer and a meter reader until his retirement.
Clarence earned the nickname “Stick” during his years playing on the Belinda softball team. He loved playing ball and had fond memories of those years and his fellow players. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Cardinals, Bears and the Knoxville races.
Stick passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Mercy Medical center, in Des Moines, at the age of 82 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ronnie, Mae and Dean and his daughter, Melinda Moore.
Those left to honor Stick’s memory include his wife, Verna; children: Randy Douglas, Sherry Goff and Craig Douglas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.



A Funeral Service for Clarence “Stick” Douglas, age 82 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Celebrate Church in Knoxville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Clarence will be cremated following the service and burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knoxville Little League.
