Cinda Lou Mott
May 14, 1955 — November 22, 2018
On May 14th 1955 Cinda Lou was born to Harold and Helen Blackford.
She loved wildlife and enjoyed driving through the country looking for deer, turkey and baby farm animals. She cared for stray dogs and cats as well as her own pets: a horse (Blaze), mamas dog (Mommer) and later her sheltie (Buddy), a cat (Spook) and a yellow lab (Honey) with 8 puppies.
Cinda spent early years attending Pleasantville Schools, graduating with the Class of ’73. She was initiated into the Alumni, which for her meant dressing up like a 73 inch circumference gerkin pickle, carrying a bucket with 73 small rocks, a jar of baby food, a toothbrush, a toad and a cow chip. She had to sell the cow chip, clean the street with the toothbrush and play leapfrog with the toad at the nursing home. She lovingly took care of her father, who became wheel chair bound with MS until he passed away in 1968.
Cinda worked at Shorty’s Steakhouse briefly before being hired at the V.A. Hospital in June of 1974. She began her career there as a psychiatric nursing assistant and later became a state certified addictions therapist. She trained and supervised interns. She especially enjoyed her “Class of 45” group of elder addicted vets and set up community clinics to work with families affected by addiction. Cinda received 13 outstanding evaluations, employee of the month and numerous awards throughout her career. She retired in 2000.
She married the love of her life, Arlen Mott on May 12, 1984 and a son, Timothy A. was born of that union. He was the pride and joy of her life.
Cinda passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Comfort House, in Pella, at the age of 63 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlen; sisters-in-law, Kathy and Alice Banker; niece, Krista Banker and nephews: Mike, Mark and Jerry Banker.
Those left to cherish Cinda’s memory include her son, Timothy and wife Alicia; grandchildren, Lauren and Dalton Allen; siblings: Lanny and Rita Banker, Dennis Banker, Donny Dale Banker and Steve Blackford and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Cinda Mott, age 63 of Pleasantville, will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family to be designated at a later date.
