Rev. Charles Albert Rutter was born November 20, 1945 in Beecher, Ontario the son of Charles J and Emma Grace (Rabbie) Rutter.
He graduated from Prince Edward Collegiate Institute and entered the banking world. Charles worked for the Bank of Montreal from 1964 to 1979. On May 13, 1967 he was united in marriage to Janice Cooling. Charles answered the call to serve in ministry and pastored in Picton, Ontario for 15 years. From 1995 – 2013 Charles served as Pastor for Apostolic Church in Knoxville, Iowa. He diligently served on the Curriculum Committee for the UPCI for 27 years and was honored to be the Canadian Representative at Tupelo Children’s Mansion. Following his retirement, Charles and Janice lived in Jackson, Tennessee prior to moving to Keokuk, Iowa three years ago.
Pastor Rutter left this earthly world on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at The Kensington in Ft. Madison, Iowa, at the age of 78 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marc Charles Rutter, granddaughter, Jalene Peace and sister, Jean.
Those left to honor Charles’ memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Janice; daughters: Vicki Lynne (Steve) Dutaud and Charlene Grace (Alex) Kloster; grandchildren: MacKenzie Moulton (Ryan), Savannah Martin (Dustin), Alandria Kloster and Alexander Kloster; he is also loved by his great-grandchild; siblings: Dorean Heaslip, Freda Algar (Ted), Roger Rutter (Bonnie) and several nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
