Catherine Maxine Lukes

Catherine “Maxine” Minella, 95, was born August 24th, 1927 to Ghetano Victor and Sarah Viola (Chandler) Minella in Pleasantville, Iowa. She lived most of her young life in Pleasantville, On August 15, 1959 she married Leo Ward Lukes in Columbus, NE. They moved to Des Moines where they remained in the same neighborhood for over 50 years.
She graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1944. She retired from the Farm Bureau Accounting Department after over 30 years of service. Leo and Maxine joined Southridge Mall walkers after retirement and enjoyed many years of activities there. Maxine also enjoyed rose gardening.
Maxine passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehab, in Knoxville, Iowa, at the age of 95 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ghetano and Viola Minella; husband, Leo Ward Lukes; son, Robert Eugene Minella of Norwalk; her siblings: Pearl M. Large of Grinnell, Don Louie Minella of Pleasantville, Gilbert Albert Minella of Des Moines and Edward Payson Minella.
She is survived by daughter in law, Betty “Minella” Williams of Knoxville; grandchildren: Jason (Cheri) Minella of Indianola, Gracia (Scott) Anderson of Sun City, AZ, Allison (John) Jacobson of West Des Moines, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; her sister Evelyn (Andy) Murphy of Richfield, MN and many other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Fellowship Christian Church of Norwalk.
