Carolyn Ann Zickel

Carolyn Ann Zickel was born June 13, 1943 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of Nick and Marie (Vander Beek) Geurts.
She was raised on a farm near Pella and graduated from Pella High School. Following graduation, Carolyn worked at an insurance company in Des Moines and later at Community National Bank in Knoxville. On October 13, 1962 Carolyn was united in marriage to Terry Zickel. The couple made their home on a farm east of Knoxville. Carolyn was a farm wife and cleaned houses for several Knoxville families.
Carolyn passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Cottages, in Pella, at the age of 73 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Doug and her husband, Terry in 2015.
Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memory include her daughter, Paula (Mitch) Nelson and their family: Zach (Kaycie), Mackenzie and Ashlyn of Vancouver, Washington; son, Dan (Terri Collins) Zickel and their family: Lacee (Cody) Ambers and Alyssa of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Sherry VanderLinden of Lincoln, Nebraska; three nieces and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Carolyn Zickel, age 73 of Knoxville, will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Covenant Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. There will be an open visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
