Carole Sue Nichol
May 15, 1944 — December 11, 2022
Carole Sue Nichol was born May 15, 1944 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Tony and Maxine (Marshall) Toigo.
She was raised in Pershing, Iowa and graduated from Twin Cedars High School with the Class of 1962. On March 1, 1968 Carole was united in marriage to Walter Dale Nichol in Knoxville. The couple made their home in Pershing before moving to an acreage south of Knoxville in 1979. Carole was a homemaker and loved being at home to raise her children. When the kids were older, Carole worked for the Marion County Home, then home health care and finally at Park Lane Assisted Living as a nurse aid. In August of 2017 she moved to Newell, Iowa to be closer to her family.
In her spare time, Carole enjoyed crocheting and had made numerous baby blankets for her grand and great grandchildren. She also liked bird watching from her home. More than anything in this world, Carole cherished all her family, especially the great-grandchildren.
Carole passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at her home, in Newell, Iowa, surrounded by her family at the age of 78 years.
In addition to her parents, Tony and Maxine Toigo, Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; siblings: Rita Bates and Sharon Bowers and her great-grandson, Jameson Page.
Those left to cherish Carole’s memory include her children: Robin Nichol (Jon Thul), Cathy (Tommy) Meritt and John (LeAnn) Nichol; brother, Anthony (Maxine) Toigo; grandchildren: Amy (Shane) Hammen, Nikki (David) Page, Brenna Meritt, Kayla Nichol, Seth Meritt and Jacob Nichol; great-grandchildren: Madison Hammen, Kenzie Hammen, Aiden Hammen, Isaac Hammen, Maryn Page, Lillian Page and Flora Mae Hoffman and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
