Bonnie Lee Sullivan was born January 28, 1932 in Pleasantville, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Neal) Galvin.

Bonnie graduated from Pleasantville High School. On June 3, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard Dean “R.D.” Sullivan. To this union four children were born: Mike, Patti, Tim, and Terry. The couple made their home on a farm west of Knoxville all their married life.

Bonnie was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Pleasantville, and was active in the U.M.W. She was also a charter member of the Pleasantville Lioness Club and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She served several times as the President of the Pleasantville Legion Auxiliary and twice as the Marion County President.

In her spare time Bonnie loved to travel; she had been to the Holy Land, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and all over the United States. She and Richard traveled west for many years on fishing trips. Bonnie raised a large vegetable garden and canned for many years. She also enjoyed flowers and grew several varieties. Bonnie was also a good baker and was known for her rolls, bread and cinnamon rolls.

Bonnie passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at her daughter’s home at the age of 90 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard.

Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory include her children: Mike Sullivan of Reasnor, Patti (Dave) Ackerson of Knoxville, Tim Sullivan of Knoxville and Terry (Rene) Sullivan of Knoxville; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.



A funeral service for Bonnie Sullivan, age 90 of Knoxville, will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella or the Comfort House.
