Bonnie Lou Smith was born August 19, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Lynn and Willa (Parson) Cade.

Bonnie attended country school and graduated from Dallas High School in 1947. On June 13, 1948 Bonnie was united in marriage to Reed Smith at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Pleasantville. The couple farmed in the Knoxville area all their married life.
Bonnie was very active in her community; she served on the Foster Care Review Board as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, was a 4-H leader and volunteered for Birthright and local nursing homes. She was a devout Christian and taught Sunday and Bible School and had a weekly Bible Study in her home for many years. In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed flower gardening and watching hummingbirds. Her greatest joy was spending time with Reed and her three daughters and their families.
Bonnie passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at Accura Nursing in Knoxville at the age of 89 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reed and her grandson, Miles Ohnemus.

Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory include her daughters: Kathy (Ron) Wilson of Knoxville; Vicky Ohnemus of Carlisle and Kimberly (Jim) Damon of West Concord, Minnesota; grandchildren: Michael (Desirae) Wilson, Gregory (Jessica) Wilson, Beth (Zach) Shank,; Karey (Justin) Brower,Troy (Amy) Ohnemus, Brooke (Jon) Randleman, Nathan (Abby) Ohnemus), Halie (Ryan) Sivahop, Ethan (Kelsey) Damon, and Maddison Damon; son-in-law, Mark Ohnemus; brother-in-law, Ken Smith and nephews Mike (Susan) , Mark (Shannon), and Miles (Karla) Smith; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.



Funeral Services for Bonnie Smith, age 89 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Birthright of Knoxville or to EveryStep Hospice.
