Bonnie Bell Geery was born November 21, 1929 in Newton, Iowa the daughter of James and Charlotte (Teal) Cooper.
Bonnie’s parents passed away at a young age and she was raised by her aunt in Russell, Iowa. After graduating from Russell High School, Bonnie attended Simpson College. She earned her teaching certificate and began teaching in Harvey, Iowa. In 1949 Bonnie was united in marriage to Orbra Bradford Geery. The couple always made their home in Harvey. Bonnie ran the Harvey Preschool for over 15 years and was the Harvey City Clerk from 1988 to 2017.
Bonnie had a very strong faith and was a devout member of Harvey United Methodist Church. She was active in the Harvey community and authored the RNA Reader, a quarterly newsletter for the community from 1978 to 2017. She also helped host the monthly Harvey Community Club Dinner during the same time. She was well known in the community for her pie baking ability. Bonnie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Bonnie passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Comfort House, in Pella, Iowa, at the age of 91 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Keith, Doug and Clayton, and husband Orbra in 2005.
Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory include her children: Steve of Atlanta, GA, Mildred (Greg) Coalbank of Knoxville, Mary Bea (Don) Horras of Knoxville, Leonard (Linda) of Harvey; Cindy Herman of Pleasant Hill and Chris (Adnan) Elahi of Harvey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other family members and friends.


Bonnie has been cremated and a Celebration of her Life will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Harvey United Methodist Church, Eureka Cemetery or Hospice of Pella.
