William Dean Templeton was born April 27, 1945 in Monroe, Iowa the son of Blaine C. and Betty (West) Templeton.

Bill was raised on a farm south of Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School. After high school, he worked at Dunn & Bradstreet and then joined the Army Reserve in 1966. Bill then went to work for Jim Watters building houses, eventually taking a job at Firestone. He was a pipe fitter at Firestone and served as a union steward. On October 20, 1990, Bill was united in marriage to Frances Phillips. In August of 2005 he retired.

In his spare time, Bill enjoyed Bluegrass music, crossword puzzles, fixing cars, fishing, canoeing and other watersports. He was a talented woodworker and made furniture and rocking horses for his family. He and Francie also had several memorable vacations. Bill’s greatest joy and sense of pride was his family and he cherished the time they spent together.

Bill passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 77 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor Bill’s memory include his wife, Francie; children: Tracy Wadle, Paul (Valerie) Templeton, Christina Metcalf, Cathy Evans and Frank (Gracie) Foley; many grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Keith (Benita) Templeton; sister, Shirley (Howard) Collinge and many other family members and friends.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasantville American Legion Post No. 108 or to the Pleasantville Christian Church.
