Betty Jean (Sansom) Richard was born March 21, 1938, the daughter of Lamar and Lillian Sansom. Betty Jean passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 83 years, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in the West Ridge Care Center, in Knoxville Iowa.
Betty was born in Shreveport/Lafayette, Louisiana area. In the mid 1960’s, Betty and her family moved to the Hartford/Carlisle Iowa area and later moved to the Pleasantville/Knoxville Iowa area.
Betty ran a home daycare business for several years. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed her faith, her pets, gardening, sewing and crafts. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing meals.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Lamar and Lillian Sansom; her step parents, Wes & Marie Watson; brother, Charles Sansom and sister, Elizabeth Anne Smith.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her sister, Charlotte Carpenter; nephew, Teddy Sansom; children: Dale Jordan, Terry Jordan, Wanda Richard Lowe, Anita Roff & Todd Butler; Grandchildren: Shawn Jordan, Tommy & Danielle Roff, Amanda, Robby, Nicholas and Christopher Lowe, Tiffany Roff, Jackie Carter, Tammy Froehle, Samantha Ollinger, Kaci Kauzlarich, Alexis Vancenbrock, Kamron & Braxton Butler; great-grandchildren: Nolan & Logan Roff, Karissa Mattingly, Keegan Carter, Vanessa Litton, Madison & Hadley Froehle & Emberly Ollinger.
She has been cremated and a private family service will be held at Ruckman Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society.
