Beatrice "Tiny" Lyon
September 20, 1929 — February 16, 2019
Beatrice “Tiny” Lyon was born September 20, 1929 in Pleasantville, Iowa, the daughter of James and Vera (Hammer) Rodda.
She was raised in Pleasantville and graduated from Pleasantville High School with the class of 1947. On March 17, 1948, Tiny was united in marriage to Ardna G. Lyon. The couple farmed near Milo most of their married life raising cattle, hogs, corn & beans. Tiny worked at the Iowa Power & Light offices in Knoxville and Indianola until her retirement in 1991. Ardna passed away on February 28, 1992.
Tiny and her longtime companion, Harold Core, enjoyed wintering in Clearwater, Florida and traveling to Oklahoma, Missouri and Minnesota. A special trip to Washington DC was enjoyed with her friend, Phyllis Mott. Tiny loved happy hour, playing pitch, bingo and riding around the countryside looking at the farm ground.
Tiny passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Acura (Griffin) Nursing Center in Knoxville at the age of 89 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, companion, siblings-- Dean, Frances, an infant brother, sister-in-law, Frances Lyon, and nephews, Mike & Tom Lyon.
Those left to cherish Tiny's memory include: Greg & Judy Vandall, Ben & Marcia Harl, Dennis Rodda, Brian Rodda, Rana & Pat Snelson, Kent Rodda, Patti Collins, Peggy Hotovec, Bobby & Theresa Lyon, Jack Lyon, and Ronda Lyon. Other family & friends along with many great and great-great nieces & nephews are also lovingly remembering Tiny.
A memorial service for Tiny will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Pleasantville at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends & family one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist church. Tiny has been cremated and burial will be at a later date in the Pleasantville Cemetery.
