Barbara Janette Raney
August 28, 1934 — April 4, 2022
Barbara Janette Raney was born August 28, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of William E. Mesecher and Hazel (King) Mesecher.
She was raised in the Pleasantville and Swan, Iowa areas; and lived there most of her life. Janette was a bar owner most of her working years, and she had owned the Sandyville Tap, the Fireside Lounge and the North End. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and writing poetry. She will be remembered as a generous and kind person who was always willing to help others.
Janette passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at Accura of Knoxville at the age of 87 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children: Cathy and Cindy; grandchildren, Nicki and Scott; great-grandchild, Stephen; great-great-grandchild, Torie and her brother, Billy Dale Mesecher.
Those left to mourn Janette’s passing include her children: Jeannie Raney and JP McCann; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings: Dick Mesecher and Linda Clark and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Meal for Barbara Janette Raney, age 87 of Pleasantville, will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Pleasantville Memorial Hall. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
