Audrey Frances Jenkins
March 11, 1923 — July 5, 2022
Audrey Frances (Bender) Jenkins was born March 11, 1923, in Warren County, Iowa to Ray Armand and Mary Ellen (Rice) Bender. She died July 5, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Hospital following a recent surgery.
Audrey attended various schools but graduated from Carlisle High School as Salutatorian in 1940.
On April 25, 1941, she married William O. Jenkins, Sr. in Unionville, Missouri and they enjoyed nearly 62 years together until William died in 2003. To this joyful union four children were born: William (Sherry) of Des Moines; Patricia (the late Richard Budd) of San Antonio, Texas; Raymond (Pat) of Melcher; and Susan (Timothy) Allen of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Audrey’s priorities were faith in God, family and friends and she gave herself in loving service in many ways through the changing seasons of her life.
With the loving support of her family she was able to remain in her own home near Melcher-Dallas until being hospitalized July 1st.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband William; her parents; and her two siblings Mary (Bender) Stuart and William Bender.
Those left to honor her memory and continue her legacy of faith and love include her four children, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren (including two who are to be born in September), as well as a host of other family and friends.
A public visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home, Knoxville. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, at Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville. Memorials may be made to Living Word Fellowship Missions Fund or to Helping Hands of Knoxville.
