Anne Louise Hill

Anne Louise Hill was born March 18, 1934 in Durham, Iowa the daughter of Worth and Gladys (Beaver) Simmons.
On February 29, 1952 Anne was united in marriage to James Allen Hill in Ottumwa, Iowa. They would be blessed with six children. The couple made their home in Ottumwa before moving to Des Moines. In 1959 they moved to Knoxville. As the kids got older, Anne worked in housekeeping at West Ridge Nursing Home for 15 years.
Anne loved music of every genre and every era and was always up to date with the latest hits. She enjoyed making quilts with intricate cross-stitching for all of her grandchildren. Anne’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Anne passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her home, in Knoxville, at the age of 83 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Worth and Gladys, husband, James and siblings: Alice Avery, Betty Manser and Pete Simmons.
Those left to cherish Anne’s memory include her children: Sandy (Rick) Pettyjohn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Susan (Jim) Peebler of Phoenix, Arizona, Bruce (Paulette) Hill of New Sharon, Iowa, Jimmy Hill of Knoxville, Debbie (Donald) Pettyjohn of Marysville, Iowa and Denise (Chris) Johnson of Knoxville, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings: Norma (Doyle) Bride of Ottumwa, Iowa and Pearl Minard of Knoxville, Iowa and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Anne Hill, age 83 of Knoxville, will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
