Anna Mae Vande Kamp was born August 10, 1923 in Beacon, Iowa the daughter of Bert and Marie Dorothy (Groenendyke) Den Burger.
Anna Mae graduated from Knoxville High School and then attended beauty school in Ottumwa. On October 14, 1942 Anna Mae was united in marriage to Edgar John Vande Kamp in Lancaster, Missouri. To this union three children were born: Gary, Jim and Tom. The couple made their home in Knoxville. Anna Mae was a homemaker until the children were older and then worked at the Peter Pan Nursery with Mary Stults.
Anna Mae was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved having her grandchildren come to Knoxville for overnight visits and to spend a week in the summer. They enjoyed many trips to Lake Jefferson. Anna Mae and Ed enjoyed many social outing and Anna Mae was also a member of the Rebekahs.
Anna Mae passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics at the age of 95 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed and siblings: James in childhood, Paul, Bert “Pete” and Janella Bailey.
Those left to cherish Anna Mae’s memory include her children: Gary D. Vande Kamp (Barbara) of Clinton; Jerry “Jim” Vande Kamp (Debbie) of Urbandale and Thomas E. Vande Kamp (Marylin) of West Des Moines; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Den Burger and Norma Jean Vande Kamp and many other family members and friends.
The family of Anna Mae would especially like to thank the staff of West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center for extending their mother’s life and providing excellent care to her for many years.


A Funeral Service for Anna Mae Vande Kamp, age 95 of Knoxville, will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Bybee & Davis. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Knoxville.
