Anna Munyon
February 10, 1948 — February 12, 2023
Anna Munyon was born February 10, 1948 in Salzburg, Austria the daughter of Bayerd Alden and Rosina (Grassegger) Lande, Sr.
Anna’s father was in the military in Europe during the war and in 1950 the family moved to Ames, Iowa. At a young age, Anna went to work with her mother, who was a cook for various companies in the Ames area. She graduated from Ames High School. She had worked for Iowa State University, as a librarian; for Zales Jewelry as a bookkeeper; for Flight Tag of Des Moines and for Wal-Mart as a Department Manager. On September 15, 2001 Anna was united in marriage to Gary Munyon at their home near Lake Red Rock. Anna worked for the Iowa D.H.S. for over twenty years, first in Des Moines, then Knoxville and retired from the Indianola office in 2018.
In her spare time, Anna enjoyed watching football especially the Minnesota Vikings and working on crossword puzzles and sewing cross stitch. She loved watching nature; she and Gary loved their homes on Lake Red Rock and the Mississippi River. She also liked to help Gary with ideas for his woodworking projects. Family was the most important thing in Anna’s life and she especially enjoyed her grandkids.
Anna of Knoxville, IA passed away in her home beside her husband Gary on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the age of 75 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marvin, Sr.
Those left to cherish Anna’s memory include her husband, Gary; children: Brandon (Tori) and Meredith (Mike) Hofmann; grandchildren: Aria and Ezra; brother, Bayerd Lande, Jr. “Sonny”; nephews: Marvin, Jr., Scott, Jason and niece, Carrie and many other family members and friends.
The family would like to express deep gratitude and appreciation to the First Responders of Monroe for all their hard work and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Samaritan’s Place.
