Alice Gleta Brown was born September 12, 1939 in Indianola, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Doris (Anderson) Fears.
Alice graduated from Indianola High School with the Class of 1957. She then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. She served two years before her honorable discharged. Alice then attended Nursing School and became an L.P.N. She worked at care centers in central Iowa and then took a job at the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center. On November 5, 1984 Alice was united in marriage to Lloyd Brown. Following her retirement the couple enjoyed wintering in New Mexico. Alice and Lloyd also enjoyed attending the Old Thresher’s Reunion for over 40 years. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed garage sales and latch hook.
Alice passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 77 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Pauline Little and John Fears.
Those left to honor Alice’s memory include her husband, Lloyd; children: Daniel (Theresa) Fears of Spokane, WA, Jeannie (Kenneth) Moody of Oskaloosa, Kevin (Donna) Beeman of Gainsville, Georgia, Shelly Stoll (Doug Scott) of Van Meter, Iowa, Dee (Tony) Nesselroad of Carlisle, Iowa and Paul Leonard of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Fears of Florida; sisters: Louise Treanor of Deming, New Mexico, Esther Phillips of Columbia, Iowa and Anna Mae Harvey of Osceola and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services for Alice Brown, age 77 of Pleasantville, will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12:00 p.m. Friday at the Mason Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasantville Senior Center.
